Originally opened in 1912 under the Dutch colonial government, it was re-opened in 1977 after several closures during World War I and World War II. After being reopened in 1977, the exchange was under the management of the newly created Capital Market Supervisory Agency (Badan Pengawas Pasar Modal, or Bapepam), which answered to the Ministry of Finance. Trading activity and market capitalization grew alongside the development of Indonesia’s financial markets and private sector – highlighted by a major bull run in 1990. On July 13, 1992, the exchange was privatized under the ownership of Jakarta Exchange Inc.
As a result, the functions of Bapepam changed to become the Capital Market Supervisory Agency. On March 22, 1995 JSX launched the Jakarta Automated Trading System (JATS). In September 2007, Jakarta Stock Exchange and Surabaya Stock Exchange merged and named Indonesian Stock Exchange by Indonesian Minister of Finance. The current location of the Indonesian Stock Exchange is located in the IDX building in the Sudirman Central Business District, South Jakarta, near the current site of the Pacific Place Jakarta.

Requirements
- Diploma degree in Secretary/ Office Administration, having skill and knowledge about administration/ filling system/ Ms. Office. Good communication in English both oral and written.
Capital Market Information Centre Specialist (PIPM- HO)
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Management/Economics/Finance/Accounting/ Banking/Communication, having knowledge about capital market industry or financial institution, assertive, good communication in English both oral and written.
Trading Monitoring Officer (WAS)
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance, strong analytical thinking, experienced in securities company will be an advantage.
Equity Infrastructure Officer (PSH)
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Economic Management/Economic Developmental Studies, having knowledge of capital market, good analytical thinking, good numerical reasoning, having experience in capital market or finance field will be an advantages.
IT Business Operations Specialist (ITB)
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in IT, having knowledge of OS Windows, Unix/LINUX, database, programming, storage area network, website, monitoring tools, and backup system.
Member Monitoring Specialist (ANG)
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Accounting/IT, min. 1 year experience as auditor in Public Accountant Firm, having knowledge about IT, capital market law and regulation, brokerage operation will be an advantage.
Economic Analyst Specialist (RIS)
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Economics, good computer skill, good communication in English both oral and written and good presentation skill.
Secretary (SEKDIV)
Requirements
- Diploma degree in secretary and having knowledge about secretarial duties.
Legal Specialist (HKM)
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Law, having knowledge about law industry and capital market, good analytical thinking.
Bonds and Derivatives Infrastructure Specialist (PUD)
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Industrial Technology/Electrical Engineering/Economics/ Finance Management/ Computer Science, having knowledge of capital market, business application/ Information technology, business process and risk management will be an advantage.
Trading Helpdesk Specialist (Helpdesk PSH)
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in IT/Information System Management, min. 1 year experience in operations system and helpdesk officer, having knowledge of IT application, network, MySQL, Oracle, LINUX, database will be an advantage.
Exchange Member Compliance Auditor (KAB)
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Accounting/ IT, min. 1 year experience as an auditor in Public Accountant Firm, interest in IT audit will be an advantage.
Administration Officer of IDX Representative Office (Adm- PIPM)
Requirements
- Diploma degree in Administration/Economics/Communication, good in administrative skills, detail oriented, assertive, communicative, experienced in administration field will be an advantage.
Trainer of IDX Representative Office (Trainer)
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Management/Economics/Finance/Accounting/ Banking/Communication, at least 1 year experience in capital market industry or financial institution, assertive, good communication in English both oral and written. Having capital market license will be an advantage.
Head of IDX Representative Office (KK – PIPM)
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Management/Economics/Finance/Accounting/ Banking/Communication, at least 3 years experience in capital market industry or financial institution, assertive and good communication both oral and written. Having capital market license will be an advantage.
Services Sector Information Dissemination Specialist (PIJ)
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Accounting/Economics/Finance, min. 1 year experience as an auditor in Public Accountant Firm, treasury, analyst in securities company, investment banking, asset management, appraisal company. Having knowledge of corporate finance will be an advantage.
